There are some beautiful walking trails there as well to enjoy. Machiasport has Fort O'Brian State park as well as Jasper Beach with its rolling tides and the sound of the water rushing over the rocks. Machias is the county seat and holds a lot of history for those who are interested in that. The first battle of the American Revolution was there and the history available to study can keep anyone pretty busy! A visit to Burnham Tavern is a great place to start on Colonial Way in Machias.
